Liddell Open Cut Mine

Liddell Open Cut Mine is situated 20km North West of Singleton in the Hunter Valley NSW. Nominal ROM coal production is 3.5Mtpa at a strip ratio of approximately 4.5:1.

It is managed by Liddell Coal Operations on behalf of the Liddell Joint Venture partners, Enex Liddell Pty Ltd and Mitsui Matsushima Australia Pty Ltd.

The contract requires the blasting and removal of overburden and the mining and haulage of coal to the client's CPP where it is crushed and washed. The overburden is removed by a 5500 Hitachi excavator and Cat 789 trucks. Coal is mined with a 992G loader together with a dozer to rip and push up the coal.

Westside Coal Mine

Westside Mine is located on the southwest outskirts of Newcastle NSW. Oceanic Coal Australia LTD is the Principal of the contract. The project requires the blasting and removal of overburden and the winning, haulage and crushing of coal to the client's product bin.

The overburden production method is by excavator and truck fleet (994 Liebherr excavator and Cat 785 trucks), supplemented by dozer push. Coaling utilises a Cat 992G loader with a dozer to rip and push up the coal. Coal is transported by Cat 777 trucks.

HVE hold the EPA licence for the site.

Carrington Dewatering Slot

This 5 month project for the client Coal & Allied required the removal of approximately 1.0Mbcm of alluvium material to produce a dewatering void for an advancing open cut and was completed within time and on budget to the client's satisfaction.

Cheshunt Box Cut

To enable the efficient start-up of their truck and shovel operation at Coal & Allied's Hunter Valley No.1 site, HVE was engaged to develop a 4.0Mbcm box cut in hard rock. The project was a 6 day per week 24 hrs per day operation moving 1Mbcm per month.

Antiene Tailings Dam

This project required 600kbcm of material to strengthen and raise the existing tailings dam wall at the Liddell Open Cut. The challenging site Safety and Quality issues were successfully managed by HVE and delivered an on-specification/on-time result for the client.
