As a family owned company established in 1961, HVE commenced operations by clearing for power line construction, with a plant fleet comprising of just 1 D6 dozer. Over the past 40 years the company has diversified, developing a strong reputation for cost competitive and timely performance of contract mining, heavy civil engineering and earthworks projects. The current plant fleet is valued in excess of $30M.

In 1999, Thiess Pty Ltd purchased the company which has assisted HVE to maintain annual turnovers exceeding $60m since 2000.

HVE's core disciplines are Contract Mining and Civil Construction with key services including;

• Drill and blast
• Overburden removal
• Coal mining and transport
• Highwall augering
• Coal crushing and processing
• Mine rehabilitation
• Civil construction and design; and
• Equipment hire

In April 2003 new contracts commenced at the Westside and Liddell projects located in the Hunter Valley Region of NSW, Australia. These contracts maintain the association HVE has had with the sites since the early 1990's. The extended term of these contracts demonstrates HVE's capacity to continue to meet client expectations.
